Tip from motorist helps OPP nab Oro-Medonte woman

GRAVENHURST – On Monday July 13, 2020 at 4 p.m., Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers began receiving reports of a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 11 from Huntsville that was being operated in an unsafe manner and weaving across the lanes of traffic.

A very concerned motorist kept the vehicle in sight after it entered a parking lot south of Gravenhurst and provided that valuable information to police who were then able to interact with the driver.  

Officers conducted an investigation and subsequently arrested and charged 22-year-old Lauren Thomas of Oro-Medonte with impaired operation by drug CC 320.14(1)(c) and possession of a Schedule I substance (Cocaine) CDSA 4(1).

She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Sept. 15, 2020 to answer to her charges - her driver's license has been suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded.
