Two charged after alleged assault with weapon in Gravenhurst

A 40-year-old Orillia man was also charged with obstructing a peace officer and other charges in relation to this incident

A Gravenhurst woman and an Orillia man are facing charges after an alleged assault last weekend.

At about 9:15 p.m. Jan. 28, Bracebridge OPP responded to a residence on First Street South in Gravenhurst, where a man reported a someone had entered his home, harassed those inside and assaulted him. The resident fled and called police.

Charmaine Holtz, 44, of Gravenhurst, was charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, mischief, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and failure to comply with probation. She was held for a bail hearing and is set to appear in Bracebridge court Feb. 9.

Police also charged Daniel Murphy, 40, of Orillia, with obstructing a peace officer and personation with intent to avoid arrest. He has a March 16 court date in Bracebridge.
