Two face charges in Midland drug bust

An investigation has concluded resulting in two area males being charged as follows with a with a number of criminal code charges in relation to an incident of Aug. 24, 2018 at 10:57 pm in the Town of Midland.

Lance Earl Andrews, 48 years of Midland has been charged with-

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine contrary to section 5 (2) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • Two counts of Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner contrary to section 86 (1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Prohibited device or ammunition for Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm contrary to section 92 (1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon contrary to section 91 (2) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition contrary to section 95 (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of Disobeying Order of Court contrary to section 127 of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1 (1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

He is currently being held in custody awaiting bail court and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date.

Kenneth Daniel Swartz 38 years of Severn Township has been charged with-

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine contrary to section 4 (1) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

He was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on October 11, 2018

Two area males charged with drug and firearms offences

MIDLAND, ON - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted an investigation of a vehicle and persons suspected of selling drugs in the downtown area of Midland at 10:57 p.m. Aug. 24, 2018. Officers spoke with the two males in the vehicle and entered into a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation and requested further officers to assist in the investigation.

As a result of this investigation two area males have been charged with numerous CDSA and firearms related offences. Investigation is continuing and updates will be provided as they become available.
