Two face trafficking charges after drugs seized during traffic stop

The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two people for drug trafficking in the City of Orillia.

On April 1, 2020, the Orillia OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began investigating reports of drug trafficking at a residence on Koralea Crescent stemming from community concerns. During the investigation, police conducted a vehicle stop related to the drug trafficking. As a result of that traffic stop, two males fled on foot from the scene after an interaction with police. With the assistance of Orillia Detachment members both males were arrested a short while later.

The investigation into this matter led police to seized cash, methamphetamine, percocet, ecstasy and other items indicative of drug trafficking.

Arrested and charged are Lester Locke, age 20 of Etobicoke. The accused is charged with:
    •    Two counts of possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
    •    Three counts of possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled drugs and Substances Act;
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to Section 354(1)(b) of the Criminal Code;
    •    Assault with intent to resist arrest contrary to Section 270(1)(b) of the Criminal Code; and,
    •    Escape lawful custody contrary to Section 145(1) of the Criminal Code.

Police also charged Garnet Seraphine, age 23, of Markham with:
    •    Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
    •    Possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled drugs and Substances Act; and,
Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to Section 354(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

Both males were released on a Form 10 Undertaking and set to appear on June 02, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.
