Vehicle in the ditch call prompts impaired driving charge

TINY TOWNSHIP - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded at 8:20 p.m. on Dec. 22, 2019 to a report of a vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of Concession Road 5 at Mary Jane Road in Tiny Township.

The attending officer located and spoke with the driver and entered into an Impaired Driving investigation. At Detachment the driver was investigated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer who concluded that the driver was impaired by drug.
Charged is Cody Michael Beilstein 27 years of Wasaga Beach with Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days and the accused's driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days under the conditions of the administrative drivers licence suspension.
The accused was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Jan. 9, 2020.
Police remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways and trails. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority.
