Postcard Memories is a weekly series of historic postcard views and photos submitted by Marcel Rousseau.

Some were previously published by the Orillia Museum of Art and History and in the book Postcard Memories Orillia.

This photo view was taken from The Narrows around 1910, showing the shoreline along Creighton Street.

On the left can be seen the Simcoe Lodge built around 1900. On the right are the ruins of the Kennedy Mill built in 1860. The boathouse in the middle was owned by the Steele family.

Behind the boathouse is the Lakeview Hotel, known far and wide as the Second Hotel. The “Second” closed in the late 1980s and a few years later was destroyed by fire.

Until the 1930s, Highway 12 South ran along Creighton Street and, just to the right of the Simcoe House, turned east to Brechin.
