This postcard provides a great view of the swimming area of Couchiching Beach Park in the early 1950s.

Postcard Memories is a weekly series of historic postcard views and photos submitted by Marcel Rousseau.

Some were previously published by the Orillia Museum of Art and History and in the book Postcard Memories Orillia.

This postcard gives us a great view of the swimming area at Couchiching Beach Park on a warm early summer day in the early 1950s. The children’s swim area can be seen in the shallow bay to the right.

The dock in front of the adult swim area is not complete with only a short section installed, barely long enough to get the swimmers past the rocky shoreline.  Two rafts, both with high diving boards, are firmly anchored in deeper water.

The Rotary Club Aquatheatre was built just a few feet north of here in 1958.

Couchiching Beach has served Orillians as a community gathering place for over 110 years and is recognized as one of the most attractive municipal parks in Ontario.
