This cast iron spray fountain was the main attraction at Couchiching Beach Park in the days before the Champlain Monument was erected. This postcard is from 1922.

Postcard Memories is a weekly series of historic postcard views and photos submitted by Marcel Rousseau.

Some were previously published by the Orillia Museum of Art and History and in the book Postcard Memories Orillia.

For many years this large cast iron spray fountain stood where the Begg Memorial Statue now stands in Couchiching Beach Park.

Mounted on a large granite base and surrounded by flowers, the fountain was the main attraction for visitors and family photos in the days before the Champlain Monument was erected.

The fountain was removed from this site when the Begg Memorial was installed in 1934. Today, the Seymour Conservatory is near this monument just to the left of the main entrance road into the popular waterfront park.
