Maples Motel has been a mainstay near the park for almost 70 years

Neighbourhood has seen many changes over the years but The Maples Motel remains unchanged in this prime location near Centennial Park

Postcard Memories is a weekly series of historic postcard views and photos submitted by Marcel Rousseau.

Some were previously published by the Orillia Museum of Art and History and in the book Postcard Memories Orillia.

Built in 1952, the Maples Motel is still in operation at 107 Neywash St. E. in Orillia.

Kay and Ernest Groves were the owners for several years until it was purchased by Bertram and Isabel MacKenzie in 1968. Bruce and Suzanne Crawford took over around 1976 and continued to accommodate the tourist industry for several years.

A 1977 phone book promotes The Maples Motel with “Colour Cable Television” in 20 modern units close to the beach. The neighbourhood has seen many changes over the years but The Maples Motel remains unchanged in this prime location near Centennial Park.
