This postcard shows the Narrows Motel, circa 1960.

The Narrows Motel was located on the southeast side of the bridge at Atherley where the Blue Beacon Marina is now located.

A popular spot for fishermen and boaters, the motel opened in the late 1950s and operated for almost 30 years.

This postcard view shows several large willow trees shading a well maintained lawn behind a cedar plank dock and a solid cement break wall.

Printed on the back of the card is: Narrows Motel on two lakes, featuring modern accommodation with housekeeping units. Free radio and T.V. Good fishing, swimming and boating. Owner manager, Al and Elsie Jones.

Postcard Memories is a weekly series of historic postcard views and photos submitted by Marcel Rousseau.

Some were previously published by the Orillia Museum of Art and History and in the book Postcard Memories Orillia.
