Northcourt Motel opened its doors on Laclie Street in early 1950s

The north-ward motel, which now sports a different name, looks much the same today as it did when it opened 70 years ago

Postcard Memories is a weekly series of historic postcard views and photos submitted by Marcel Rousseau.

Some were previously published by the Orillia Museum of Art and History and in the book Postcard Memories Orillia.

The two 1951 Mercury cars in the parking lot date this postcard view of the Northcourt Motel at 320 Laclie St.

This photo was taken shortly after it was built and shows a modern building featuring fresh awnings and a touch of art deco style. The glass block windows on each side of the front door are also featured on the second floor bow windows in the sculptured overhang.

The promotional writing on the back of the card reads: Northcourt Motel: 320 Laclie St. Orillia. Steam heat, private showers and two-room suites. Swimming, boating, fishing and golf available. Phone 5171. J. T. Easton, Prop. Member of O.T.C.A., AAA, and Quality Courts United Inc.

The Northcourt Motel is still located on Laclie Street with a new name but very little change to its appearance.
