Postcard Memories is a weekly series of historic postcard views and photos submitted by Marcel Rousseau.

Some were previously published by the Orillia Museum of Art and History and in the book Postcard Memories Orillia.

This early 1950s view of Mississaga Street looking east from West Street gives us a good sense of the large number of awnings and overhead signs in use downtown at that time.

On the right, we see Millers Ladies Shoppe at 3 Mississaga Street E. Next is Hunts Ltd. Confection, Middleton Tobacco and Tiffin Barber Shop and Bacons Drug Store at 15 Mississaga St. E.

On the left is Taylors Drug Store at 4 Mississaga St. E., then Fred Cook Barber Shop, Buehler Bros., Cairns Grocery, Louis Mens Wear, Mealing Bros. Meats, Golden Dragon Restaurant, Loblaw Grocery Ltd.. and, finally, Metropolitan Stores Ltd. at 46 Mississaga St. E.
