Traders Bank once had prominent position in downtown Orillia

This busy corner of the downtown later became home to a popular hardware store until the 1950s

Postcard Memories is a weekly series of historic postcard views and photos submitted by Marcel Rousseau.

Some were previously published by the Orillia Museum of Art and History and in the book Postcard Memories Orillia.

The Traders Bank opened in the early 1880s and was located at 72-74 Mississaga St. E., in downtown Orillia.

The storefront featured, as a trademark, a large golden beaver sign hanging over the entrance.

This promotional trade card with the 1911 calendar was printed a few years before it closed. The location later became the Haywood Grocery Store.

In the early 1930s until the early 1950s, McNabb & Son Royal Hardware shared this address with the Royal Bank.
