Truth in advertising? Not on these novelty postcards from 1930s

Postcards were sold at local tourist shops, but despite the 'local' place names, the images were mass produced
171 Washago Sand - Witches 1934
These five bathing beauties, dubbed Sand Witches on the Beach, were featured on a novelty post-card from the mid 1930s.

Postcard Memories is a weekly series of historic postcard views and photos submitted by Marcel Rousseau.

Some were previously published by the Orillia Museum of Art and History and in the book Postcard Memories Orillia.

Mailed in 1934 from Washago, Sand-Witches on the Beach was one of many novelty postcards sold at local tourist shops. These views were produced in large quantities with the name of the community printed by demand.

The five bathing beauties would not be from Washago and look to be posing in front of an ocean rather than a small lake like Couchiching.
