I loved Mazo de la Roche books about Jalna. First introduced to them by my English teacher, Miss Howells, in Liverpool, England. Her stories about Jalna brought me to Canada, over 50 years ago. I still have copies of her famous books. I also took a few writing courses with Heather Kirk at Georgian College. Loved them too.

Skid was a person to be remembered for his dedication and sheer "niceness". My children both attended the Y and Camp Summerland, and it was one of the best experiences of their lives. Still talk about it and Skid, and the other dedicated people who ran the Y, all those years ago. Such happy memories of an Orillia that has long gone. Lyn Hird.

I'm glad you have added Rusty Draper to your paper. I remember the days when he
had his Radio Show on CFOR, always enjoyed him then and do now.

re: Anti Lockdown demonstration.
I hope no one in this demonstration comes down with Covid. However I cannot believe
that it is OK to be in a crowd and not wear a mask. And to have your child subjected to
this risk is inexcusable. Comparing this to The Terry Fox Marathon is ludicrous.

Hats off to Crazy Cuts. The Ford Government should rethink their whole policy about shut-
downs & vaccinations. The group that needs to be vaccinated are the 18 to 34 year olds.
Set up mobile vaccination centres and go to the people in their workplaces. Mr. Ford I
think you should start taking advice from someone else, other than big business.

Having known Brian Adams for a number of years, I am not in the least surprised by his
generous donation to the Orillia Youth Centre. Brian is a remarkable person, always ready
with help, empathy and support. He was a super Director of the Mental Health Centre and
remains a very valuable citizen to this day. Good for you Brian, from Lyn Hird,
ex pat. from OSMH. Lots of happy memories.

I totally sympathize with the workers, however, I do think they had a choice not to strike
during the pandemic. We are so close to making a breakthrough now, nothing should
stand in the way of that end. Remember we are all in this together.
Just another senior trying to stay healthy.

I would like to add that the Care Home of Leacock has also, very abruptly, last Sunday
decided to ban essential care givers. I understand the gravity of the situation but I do think that the Powers that Be at Head Office could have given us 24 hours notice,( even thegovernment does that), so we could have prepared our loved ones of what was happening.
Some of the Home's residents really do not fully understand what is occurring, and must
be wondering where have their loved ones gone!. I think Jarlette Management had a ''knee-jerk'' reaction to the report on the horror that is Roberta Place, and I think they bear most of the responsibility for that. The front line staff are terrific and often have to work very understaffed. They do the very best they can, in very difficult circumstances.
