Market returns to Icelandic Sheep Farm on Saturday

Kimber Valley Farms is hosting its annual spring Farmers and Makers Market on April 27.

Kimber Valley Farms, a unique Icelandic sheep fibre farm, located in the stunning rolling hills of Beaver Valley in Kimberley, Ontario, is announcing its 4th annual Spring Farmers' and Makers' Market to be held in the large, open horse arena on the farm.

A community favourite, this market will take place on Saturday, April 27from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and showcase a variety of local farmers and makers offering one-of-a-kind items. 

Lynn Thordarson, co-owner of Kimber Valley Farms with Catherine Gaudet, commented, “we have a wonderful line-up of vendors that will demonstrate incredible local talent. This spring market is especially popular with the surrounding communities because spring is in the air and people want to get outdoors after the winter and enjoy the invigorating sights and sounds of the Beaver Valley coming to life. ” 

The market currently has 37 vendors registered, which is the largest participation out of any market held in the past.

Vendors include producers of:

  • fibre artworks,
  • feltwork, preserves,
  • honey,
  • handmade greeting cards,
  • pottery,
  • woodworking,
  • home décor,
  • upcycled textiles,
  • frozen pizzas,
  • locally raised organic meats and vegetables,
  • small batch botanicals for wellness and skin,
  • sauces,
  • elixirs,
  • shortbread cookies, and
  • jewellery.

Delicious baked goods, food and drinks will be available from: Black Forest Maple Syrup, Forget Me Not Café and Flowers, Big Mamas Kitchen Creations, Burdock Grove Farm and Grey and Gold Cider. Kimber Valley Farms will be selling their own Icelandic sheep fibre products which include artistically felted fleeces, apparel and home décor; wall hangings; hand-woven rugs; knitwear; dryer balls; collectible farm frogs and a new spring line-up of baby apparel. Raw materials are also available for fibre artists including raw fleece, roving, and yarn. Vendor profiles can be found online through Instagram @kimbervalleyfarms.

The horse arena itself is spacious, bright, and airy and protected from the elements.

Parking is available on-site, but somewhat limited. Car-pooling is strongly encouraged. Kimber Valley Farms is located at 236087 Beaver Valley Road in the Beaver Valley, close to the intersection of 119 and Grey Road 13. The white-domed arena is visible from the road. For the safety and stress reduction of their livestock guardian and flock, Kimber Valley Farms kindly requests that you not bring your dogs to the farm.
