Basil Clarke re-elected as mayor in Ramara Township

Clarke defeated rival Marg Sharpe by 143 votes, while deputy-mayor Joe Gough was defeated by Keith Bell in a tight three-way race.

Basil Clarke has been re-elected as mayor of Ramara Township.

Basil Clarke has won another term as mayor of Ramara Township.

In a tight race that mirrored the election of 2018, Clarke defeated his closest rival, Marg Sharpe — a former Ramara councillor — by just 143 votes.

Clarke garnered 1,830 votes, while Sharpe had 1,687 ballots cast in her favour. Russ Cole finished in third place with 734 votes.

Incumbent deputy-mayor Joe Gough lost his post to challenger Keith Bell, while Dave Readman finished third in a very close three-way race.

David Snutch was acclaimed in Ward 1, while Jennifer Fisher was elected in Ward 2.

Dana Tuju was elected in Ward 3, ahead of incumbent Ted Lamb.

In Ward 4, Gary Hetherington held on to his seat, finishing ahead of Glenn Harrington and Richard Black.

Sherri Bell was elected in Ward 5.
