Award-winning film Riceboy Sleeps is coming to Orillia for two screenings April 12 courtesy of the Mariposa Arts Theatre’s Film Nights.

Tickets go on sale at Orillia Galaxy Cinemas on April 12 beginning at 3 p.m. for $15, cash only. Show times are 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Riceboy Sleeps is the story of a Korean single mother who moves to Canada. She and her son must fight for acceptance and respect at both work and school. As they negotiate with their separate circumstances, the rift between mother and son grows. Unwelcome news sparks an unplanned return to South Korea, but might open up the possibility of mutual understanding, a news release states.

Riceboy Sleeps recently won the Rogers Best Canadian Film Award. The film premiered at both the Toronto International Film Festival and at the Busan (South Korea) International Film Festival, and went on to be shown at other festivals around the world, winning awards in Glasgow, Marrakesh, San Diego and Vancouver.
