It takes a truly special group of musicians to leave a mark on music and culture the way The Beatles have.
Over 60 years have passed since the band’s first and memorable release of Love Me Do, and over 50 of those years the group has been officially disbanded. And yet, The Beatles remain one of the most recognizable, and overwhelmingly loved bands by audiences of all ages.
This remarkable staying power — one that has invoked hundreds of modern song covers, inspired feature films, and even influenced the youngest generation to sing along to their most popular hits — is the inspiration behind the newest live production coming to the Orillia Opera House this March 23, The Men Behind the Music: Beatles Edition.
Written, directed, and performed by Yale-educated musician Haley Marie, The Men Behind the Music: Beatles Edition is a musical experience like no other. Performed with a perfectly curated group of musicians, Haley expertly weaves a live concert experience with that of a live documentary. With over 300 unique backdrops, this theatrical event explores the fascinating behind-the-scenes stories that formed and inspired the world’s greatest rock ’n’ roll band, while also performing their greatest hits.
A classically trained musician herself, Haley Marie studied at both McGill University and Yale University School of Music. Her fascination with musical arts inspired her to dig deeper, look behind the music, and uncover the tales that inspired the artist to create. Collecting years of research and analysis, Haley’s obsession led to the formation of Aurelia Productions and its famous The Men Behind the Music touring shows. Studying everyone from Bach to modern-day musicians, the mystique behind the world’s most famous yet short-lived bands was a necessary follow-up to the esteemed series.
Haley’s Beatles Edition explores the youthful friendships and musical bonds that would shake up music culture for decades to come. Dance out of your seats to the upbeat, joyful sounds of ’60s rock ’n’ roll, explore the earliest sonic touches of psychedelic and hard rock music and lament over some of the greatest love songs ever written. Behind every moving musical number is an even more touching story, and The Men Behind the Music is your gateway.
The Men Behind the Music: Beatles Edition comes to the Orillia Opera House on March 23 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased online at orilliaoperahouse.ca, or via the box office at 705-326-8011 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday to Friday.
