NEWS RELEASE
THE CELLAR SINGERS
*************************
The Cellar Singers are performing Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem as the third concert of our 55th season.

We’ll welcome soloists Jennifer Taverner and Michael York to help us perform Brahms’ masterpiece. Composed between 1865 and 1868, it was likely inspired by the deaths of Brahms’ mother and his friend Robert Schumann. A humanist, rather than overtly Christian work, the Requiem provides consolation in its symmetrical, cyclical composition.

“It’s been rewarding to prepare to sing the Requiem together – the music is beautiful, and we hope it moves our audience as deeply as it has moved us,” says choir president Faith Shergold.

If you'd like to commemorate a loved one and support the Cellar Singers, we'll be including an In Memoriam section in our program. Please contact [email protected] or 905-830-3039 by February 17 for more information on making your $50 donation.

Join us on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church, Orillia for this moving concert. Tickets are $25 ($10 for those under 30) and available from members or at thecellarsingers.com. If you're interested in professional transportation from Muskoka, please reach out to Stan at 705-764-0191. Cost will be roughly $25-30 per person.

The Cellar Singers are an adult choral organization under professional leadership, dedicated to providing and promoting artistic excellence in Simcoe, Muskoka, and beyond, through education, outreach and high-quality performance of the choral art.
