Remember way back, when I said that the Mariposa in Concert Show at St. Paul’s featuring Union Duke would sell out? It did.

Remember way back, when I said that the History of Her show SAMMY is putting on at Lone Wolf would sell out? It did.

So, I hope you got your tickets to both of those great shows while they were still available.

And if you would like another hot tip, get your tickets for My Son the Hurricane at St. Paul’s Centre on March 30, as soon as possible. This hot band is selling out all over Canada and the U.S. so don’t snooze and lose. You can grab your tickets through Eventbrite here.

Speaking of St. Paul’s Centre, rumour has it the venue is being booked for multiple new shows throughout the year, so keep an eye on their socials to be in the know.

Orillia Secondary School presents Clue, the play, March 1 to 3, at the school. You can grab your tickets through the school’s office; they are just $15 and $10 for students.

Peter Street Fine Arts Gallery and Studio is looking for a last-minute guest artist for March, and is offering a discount, so contact Brian today if you are interested, 705-321-1403. Hibernation Arts’ guest artist for March is Patti Campbell, who will be showing abstracts on paper.

Also, on March 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hibernation Arts, Jay Fallis will be doing a book talk on his book, Ireland Awakening, a post-COVID travel story. Admission is $10 and light refreshments are included.

Mariposa Arts Theatre’s Film Nights continue next Wednesday March 8 with Buffy Ste. Marie: Carry It On. This will, of course, be awesome. Tickets are $15, cash only, one hour before each show and shows are 4 and 7 p.m. Enjoy.

There will be a L’Atelier North POP UP clothing sale at the Matchedash Lofts this Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., also featuring artist Kate Dasilva who will be exhibiting her work this weekend in one of the live/work spaces for sale on the main floor of the building. There will also be a chance to tour some of the spaces for sale, good tunes, snacks, and mimosas. Hop on over and check it all out.

Don’t forget about the Orillia Concert Band’s show, Broadway on Peter Street, this Saturday at St. Paul’s Centre, at 7:30 p.m. You can get tickets here. You can also pay cash at the door the night of the concert. This will be such a fun show of Broadway tunes, featuring guest soloist Christina Bosco. If you can’t make the show, they are live-streaming it on the Orillia Concert Band YouTube channel, so you can enjoy it here.

Orillia’s Art in Public Places Committee has launched a new Call to Artists for the Orillia Recreation Centre’s art gallery, The Stack, to interpret the theme ‘Momentum.' The submission deadline is March 20. This exhibition is being organized in partnership with Age-Friendly Orillia and will open in June. For more details, and to submit, go here.

There is Karaoke at Tammie’s Place this Thursday at 7 p.m. and at Lake Country Grill this Saturday at 8 p.m. Live music-wise, Couchiching Craft Brewery presents Lyric Dubee Friday and SAMMY and the band, Saturday.

The Will Davis/Chris Robinson jazz duo is playing Lot 88 Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Have a great first week of March, so far, it’s looking full of fun and not too bad weather-wise either.

If you have arts news, send it to [email protected] by Tuesday at noon to be included.
