COLUMN: Lots of spooky, fun events on tap this weekend

There are multiple shows at the Opera House, St. Paul's Centre, concerts at local bars, markets, Trunk or Treat and much more going on, says columnist

HI folks! Hope you are enjoying this balmy late October weather. Still lots of great events coming up, so hold onto your hats!

On Thursday (Oct. 26) at 7:30 p.m., come out to The Family Crow: A Murder Mystery, a puppet murder mystery for adults at the Orillia Opera House. Internationally celebrated puppeteer Adam Francis Proulx brings his award-winning show right here to O-Town. This show is critically acclaimed and has sold out in Orlando, Winnipeg, and Toronto, so you should definitely check it out. Tickets www.orilliaoperahouse.ca.

Also at the Orillia Opera House, this Friday at 7:30 p.m., Mysteries of the Keyhole House. In their new show, illusionists Ted and Marion Outerbridge highlight the historical artifacts they discovered as they restored their heritage home, which is rumoured to be haunted. And, Saturday at the Orillia Opera House, Carol Dixon in concert. Tickets ditto!

On Saturday (Oct. 28), the Comfy Cat Shelter is having a fundraising all-ages dance at St. Paul’s, starting at 12:30 in the afternoon. Dubbed Purranormal Cativity, the dance will feature heavy metal music, prizes, food, and fun, all for the low low price of $10. Bands featured include Tangents, Dead Beyond Fear, and Get N Dirty. Costumes are encouraged. Grab your tickets here.

Trunk or Treat is this Saturday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. There may be very limited tickets left for treaters, you can check here www.thebigevent.ca.

This Saturday night, Music for the Museum is going down at St. Paul’s Centre. This will be an evening of gorgeous music, put on by very talented musicians, including Jacquie Dancyger-Arnold, Hugh Coleman, Laura Kelly, and more. You can get tickets at www.orilliamuseum.org/m4m. Things get going at 7:30 p.m.

Saskatchewan-born, but now Orillia hometown hero, musician Zachary Lucky, along with Richard Inman, is bringing his Kitchen Table Tour to the Orillia Opera House this Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Get your tickets now at www.orilliaoperahouse.ca

Hopefully you already have season tickets to the Orillia Concert Association, but if not ... get them now, as the Stratton Soloists are coming to town as concert No. 1 in the OCA series for this year. Also Sunday afternoon, come out to the Pumpkin Spice Market, at 3581 Bayou Rd. in Severn. Warm up by the fire, enjoy hot cider, and get into the shopping with fall vibes at this fun local market. Enjoy!
