Lisa Baker and Darren Frost are bringing their Beauty and the Beast stand-up comedy show to Orillia.
Various dates sold out on the first leg of the tour, so additional stops were added for the “very adult” show.
“This is a no-holds-barred type of comedy show, but it is not offensive. We do adult comedy for adults,” said Frost.
Baker was born and raised in St. John’s, N.L., and has a “sharp wit and sense of humour that Newfoundlanders are known for.” Throughout her career, she has worked with big names in comedy, including Rob Schneider, Tom Green and Paul Reiser. She has been featured on CBC’s LOL program and has appeared many times on The Debaters.
Baker has performed at Just for Laughs Northwest, has self-produced two national tours and has recorded two albums. She has just finished filming her first TV series, The Canoe Project.
Frost’s comedic style has been described as having “the quality of a satanic revival meeting” and he is said to be “among the most daring comedians in Canada.” He worked on the Murdoch Mysteries 2018 Halloween special, Pay the Ghost with Nicolas Cage and Season 2 of Mr. D, playing an angry French teacher.
Frost has acted in Hollywood films including Hairspray, Assault on Precinct 13, Fever Pitch and Don’t Say a Word, though he is best known for his appearances in more than 50 commercials.
He has performed at the Halifax Comedy Festival, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the St. John’s Comedy Festival Gala, on The Ron James Show and The Debaters and in more than 22 shows at Just for Laughs.
The Beauty and the Beast show will take place March 29 at 7 p.m. at Couchiching Craft Brewing Co. in downtown Orillia. Tickets cost $29.50 and can be purchased here.
