ORILLIA MUSEUM OF ART AND HISTORY

This year, the Orillia Museum of Art and History (OMAH) is hosting two nights for its popular Hallowe’en walking tour, with two versions to choose from. This family-friendly version is free of super scary or violent stories, and includes an interactive stop at the Orillia Public Library. And, for the older audiences (ages 12 and up), we bring you a spookier version of our Halloween walking tour.
The tour takes you on a journey through downtown Orillia’s frightening past, discussing the spooks and spectres that still make themselves known. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.
Both tours begin in the haunted jail cells of the Orillia Museum of Art & History (30 Peter St. S.), and conclude at the Orillia Opera House.
Mariposa Arts Theatre volunteer, Stevie Baker said, “OMAH's Spooky Stroll has been an excellent addition to their programming and the local events leading up to Halloween. An instant classic, Spooky Stroll gives our local community the chance to learn more about Orillia's eccentric and wild past. Seeing the jails cells of OMAH and learning about the storied history and hauntings of our Orillia Opera House gives a greater context to our hometown that is fun for adults and children alike. Spooky Stroll has quickly become a project that I not only love to volunteer for but that my family loves to attend.”
Family friendly times are 5 and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17. The spookier times are 7 and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17 and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The tour is about an hour in length.
Last year’s event was fully sold out, so don’t hesitate to get your tickets. The cost is $10 (plus HST) for adults and $5 for children and youth (17 and under).
