Orillia Vocal Ensemble seeking new singers to join choir

Anyone interested in joining will be welcome at the first official rehearsal of the season on Oct. 3 at St. Paul's Centre
Blair Bailey, music director of the Orillia Vocal Ensemble, welcomes newcomers to join the choir.

This Tuesday evening (Oct. 3) at 7 p.m., the Orillia Vocal Ensemble (OVE) is welcoming new singers to join the choir.

The OVE is an adult community choir dedicated to the joy of singing together and raising funds for local charities. Under the leadership of current Musical Director, Blair Bailey, and a volunteer Board of Directors, the OVE vision is simple: a partnership between the arts, businesses and local organizations to the benefit of the whole community.

Every year, local business sponsors cover the cost of OVE concerts. To date, sponsors for this 2023-24 season include John Mayo and the Dec. 16 “concert sponsor,” Thor Motors.  Requests from local charities for a fundraising concert in the spring of 2024 are now being accepted through the e-mail listed below.

Anyone interested in joining will be welcome at the first official rehearsal of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at St. Paul's Centre, 62 Peter St. N., Orillia. Weekly rehearsals start at 7:30 p.m. each Tuesday. New members are encouraged to come at 7 p.m. to get properly settled in.

Membership fees are $125 per half-year term or $250 per year. Secondary and post-secondary students are welcome — and pay no fees for participation. The choir also has a policy of subsidizing or waiving fees based on individual financial need.

If you love to sing and this sounds like a choir you would like to be part of, come out to the Oct. 3 rehearsal and see how it feels! Arrive early to meet choir members and pick up music.
