Community Builders Awards: Community Foundation creates positive change, lasting impact in Orillia

This year’s Hall of Fame Award winner is a vital community asset that was created by and for the people of Orillia

The Community Foundation of Orillia & Area began with a $20 startup donation and now manages more than $15 million, with over 40 endowment funds.

Over the last almost 25 years, the organization has granted $2.6 million to help local charities provide shelter, food and care for those in need, in addition to supporting the arts, recreation and environmental sectors.

In 2022 alone, the foundation granted $425,000 to more than 150 charities in Orillia and area.

The foundation connects local donors to local charities, helping to address the most pressing needs in our community by giving those who want to help a platform to make their philanthropic goals a reality. Not only does this positively impact the organizations who benefit from the funding, but it also turns citizens into community leaders who are enacting meaningful and lasting change here in Orillia.

Many of the organizations supported by funds from the foundation are staples in our community and provide essential services, including but not limited to, the Couchiching Conservancy, Dress For Success, the Mariposa Folk Foundation, O.S.P.C.A Orillia, the Salvation Army, libraries, schools, arts groups, personal support and health care organizations and many more.

This award goes to an individual or group with big ideas that has had a significant impact on the community.

Congratulations to the team at the Community Foundation of Orillia & Area!

This award is proudly sponsored by Team Micks.
