Community support for Orillia's 'Soldiers' is rock solid (6 photos)

One of the hand-painted stones says 'OSMH Rocks!' We salute the Soldiers' Spirit as the local fight against the global pandemic continues

Editor's note: OrilliaMatters is partnering with Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital (OSMH) Foundation to pay tribute to the front-line 'soldiers' who are going above and beyond the call of duty inside Orillia's hospital in what is expected to be a protracted battle against the COVID-19 global pandemic. We will endeavour to publish this every Friday until the pandemic passes.

In recent weeks, there have been moving parades of honking cars and emergency response vehicles with sirens blaring driving by the hospital - all to show support for the front-line workers at OSMH.

This week, a huge sign was placed on the rooftop of a house on Dufferin Street, strategically placed so those looking out the windows of upper floors at OSMH can see the heart-warming message of support.

On top of that, there is a growing garden of rocks outside the hospital's main entrance. Each is hand-painted in bright colours and with messages of hope and love.

One staffer said it brought tears to her eyes when she first noticed the stones on her way into the hospital for a long shift.

We join the community in saluting the Soldiers' Spirit and those who risk their own health and the health of their families to care for people amid a global pademic. Thank you!
