A single case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at Guthrie Public School in Oro-Medonte Township.
No classrooms have been closed and the Line 5 school remains open.
No information has been released about whether the case involves a student or a staff member. Due to privacy legislation, the health unit does not release personal or identifying information about any staff or student who is ill unless deemed necessary.
There are currently five active confirmed cases in Simcoe County District School Board schools and facilities, including Tecumseth Beeton Public School (2), Barrie North Collegiate, Innisdale Secondary School, and Guthrie Public School.
"A positive case at a school does not necessarily mean the individual was exposed to COVID-19 at the school," the board says on its website. "They may have been exposed somewhere else in the community."
