'Don't let your guard down,' mayor warns on eve of long weekend

Mayor urges vigilance with a reminder that Orillia remains in the grip of a pandemic, stressing it's vital to continue to follow public health guidelines

Orillia has fared "extremely well" in the battle against the dreaded coronavirus.

But it's far from over, warns Orillia Mayor Steve Clarke, who credits the hard work of local agencies, multiple levels of government, businesses and members of the community.

"Please do not lose sight of the fact that we are, indeed, in a pandemic," said Clarke.

He pleads with residents to obey public health guidelines and reminds both residents and visitors that temporary parking lot and boat launch measures will be in place throughout the Civic Holiday weekend.

"At the end of the day, it's about keeping people safe and healthy," said Clarke. "Don't let your guard down."
