The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 30 new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County today.
The cases include seven Barrie residents, five Bradford West Gwillimbury residents, eight Essa residents, six Innisfil residents, two Adjala-Tosorontio residents, one New Tecumseth resident, and one Tiny Township resident.
The new Barrie cases reported today include a man between 18 and 34 years old, two women and two men between 35 and 44 years old, and a man and a woman between 45 and 64 years old. Two of the Barrie cases are under investigation and the other five are linked to close contact transmission.
The Bradford cases include one boy under 18, a man between 18 and 34 years old, a man and a woman between 35 and 44 years old, and a woman between 45 and 64 years old. Three of the cases are under investigation and the other two are linked to close contact transmission.
The Innisfil cases include two men between 18 and 34 years old, and one woman and three men between 45 and 64 years old. Two cases are listed as community-acquired, one is attributed to close contact and three are under investigation.
There are three children from Essa listed in today's new cases, two girls and one boy under 18. The other Essa cases include a man between 18 and 34 years old, a woman between 35 and 44 years old, and two women and a man between 45 and 64 years old. There are two cases listed as community-acquired, four as close contact, and two are under investigation.
The remaining four cases reported today include two men from Adjala-Tosorontio, one between 18 and 34 years old, and the other between 45 and 64 years old. The first case is attributed to close contact and the second is community-acquired. The New Tecumseth and Tiny Township cases are both men between 45 and 64 years old. The New Tecumseth man's case is linked to close contact and the Tiny Township man's case is considered community-acquired.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,634 cases of COVID-19, with 1,551 of those in Simcoe County. There are 1,410 cases listed as recovered in the region. Eight people are currently hospitalized, and of those seven are Simcoe County residents. The health unit has recorded 50 deaths.
The incidence rate for Simcoe County is 294 cases per 100,000 people.
