Health unit reports two new COVID cases in Simcoe County today

An Innisfil man and woman are the county's only two positive cases reported today; There are 10 new cases reported in Muskoka today

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 12 new cases of COVID-19 with all but two coming from its northern catchment area.

The two positive Simcoe County cases involve an Innisfil man and woman between the ages of 18 and 34. Both cases are now under investigation in the municipality that last reported a case Sept. 14.

The other 10 cases involve four residents in Huntsville, three in Bracebridge, two in Gravenhurst and one in Muskoka Lakes.

As well, one case previously assigned to New Tecumseth and one case previously assigned to Barrie have been removed and reassigned to different provincial health units.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 835 cases of COVID-19, with 778 of those in Simcoe County. There are now 709 cases listed as recovered. There is one person from Barrie hospitalized in Simcoe County with COVID-19. Thirty-eight people have died.

The health unit indicates there are 70 unrecovered cases in Simcoe County.
