The Huronia Rose Society usually sells its Ontario-grown potted roses at Farmers’ Markets in Orillia and Barrie, every May.

Not this year.

This year, COVID-19 has closed most venues – so the Rose Society has adapted by taking online orders.

Roses available include Hybrid Teas like Double Delight (cream and blush red), Apollo (light yellow), Desert Peace (gold and scarlet); a Grandiflora rose – Glowing Peace (orange and pink); and a variety of shrub roses, including Canadian roses in the 49th Parallel, Artists Series and Explorer Series.

The Canadian shrubs are hardy, and beautiful – like Chinook Sunrise (a ‘riot of exotic colours’), Bill Reid (yellow and peach), Champlain (red double), Emily Carr (red double), and Oscar Peterson (white).

All roses are available for only $22 each, taxes included.

To order or for more information, contact Michelle Lynch at [email protected]

The roses are expected to arrive in May. Those who place an order will be notified when and where to pick up their roses – in parking lots, with physical distancing rules in place.

Payment should be by cheque (payable to Huronia Rose Society) or cash. Place payment in an envelope, marked with your name, rose selections and the amount enclosed, to be dropped into a basket on pick-up.

The Huronia Rose Society, billed as "the only Rose Society north of Toronto," was formed 40 years ago, in 1980. For more information click here.
