Mayor urges citizens to 'shop local' and support local businesses

'Please do your part to support our local businesses that have supported this community for so long,' urges mayor in video address to city

This week, the province began to ease some of its restrictions as it begins a staged re-opening of the economy.

Some businesses, such as garden centres and nurseries, can open for curbside pickup as of Friday, while hardware stores and safety equipment stores can re-open for curbside pickup Saturday.

On Monday, retail stores with entry doors facing the street, can open for curbside pickup.

This is good news, says Orillia Mayor Steve Clarke.

"The city's Economic Recovery Task Force and staff continues to work closely with local businesses through this very challenging time," said Clarke.

"Please do your part to support our local businesses that have supported this community for so long," he urged. "Without your support, many local businesses just may not survive."

While some restrictions are being eased, Clarke urges citizens to remain vigilant and adhere to the restrictions in place aimed at stopping the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
