A second staff member has tested positive for COVID-19 at Bradford Valley Care Community long-term care centre.

A positive case was first reported last week in one team member in the Simcoe Unit.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) reported yesterday that there are four units now affected by the outbreak.

This is the second outbreak at the 246-bed facility since the pandemic began. The first one was declared on March 23 and ended on May 19 and resulted in 42 SMDHU lab-confirmed cases and 12 deaths.

According to Sienna Living, the team at Bradford Valley is working closely with Public Health and all proper precautions and directives are in place. They say:

  • All team members are wearing surgical face masks and having their temperature taken twice per shift.
  • Isolation protocols are in place.
  • Frequent monitoring of all residents’ health, including temperatures checked twice daily.
  • Rigorous frequent cleaning and disinfecting of all surfaces.
  • No non-essential visitors and active screening for any essential visitor, including temperature checks continues.
