Sisters become 'virtual grandchildren' and create YouTube videos for seniors

Sisters were sad to think about seniors in nursing homes not getting visits, so they created virtual visits featuring songs, stories, jokes, and even the occasional puppet show

Anikka and Kaija Guyon have spent the last two years visiting and singing at local seniors homes.

The girls were sad they couldn't visit during the COVID-19 pandemic and worried about the seniors who are now without visitors entirely.

They have begun creating videos in English, French, and Swedish under the title, 'Visiting with Kaija and Anikka,' and posting them to YouTube. The videos feature the two sisters, 11 and 12, singing songs, telling stories, and telling jokes.

They've also been performing driveway concerts in the evening in support of frontline workers. Both are students at École élémentaire catholique Notre Dame de la Huronie.

They recently spoke with CollingwoodToday about their videos and the reason they now call themselves "virtual grandchildren." Enjoy the video of our interview with Anikka and Kaija.
