There are 55 new COVID cases in Simcoe County since Friday

While there are no new cases in Orillia, there are three new cases in Oro-Medonte Township; Four people in the region are currently hospitalized

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported 55 new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County today. This is the first update from the health unit since Friday. 

The health unit also confirmed two more residents of Simcoe Manor long-term care home in Beeton have died as a result of COVID-19. The County of Simcoe reported the two deaths this weekend. Nine residents of the county-owned nursing home have died with COVID-19 since the outbreak began at the end of September.

There have been 40 positive cases confirmed in Simcoe Manor residents, nine have died and 24 no longer require isolation, leaving seven active resident cases. Twenty-eight staff at the manor have tested positive for COVID-19 and the county reported one staff member has a "test result that is unclear" and is under further investigation. 

In a breakdown of the 55 new cases reported today, there are eight new Barrie cases listed, including one man between 18 and 34 years old whose case is linked to a workplace outbreak. The workplace is not specified. 

The other seven Barrie cases include two more men between 18 and 34 years old, two women and a man between 35 and 44 years old, a woman between 45 and 64 years old, and a woman between 65 and 79 years old. Two of the cases are listed as community-acquired and the rest are under investigation. 

There are two new Clearview cases including a man between 18 and 34 (under investigation) and a man between 65 and 79 years old (close contact).

There are 12 new cases in Bradford West Gwillimbury among the health unit's report today. The cases include two men and two women between 18 and 34 years old whose cases are linked to close contact and another man and woman in the same age group whose cases are attributed to community transmission. The Bradford cases also include a man between 35 and 44 years old (close contact), a man and a woman between 45 and 64 years old (under investigation), a man between 45 and 64 years old (close contact), and a man and a woman between 65 and 79 years old (close contact). 

An Innisfil boy under 18 is among nine new cases reported in Innisfil today. The boy's case is close contact. The other cases include a man between 18 and 34 years old (under investigation), two women and four men between 35 and 44 years old (two close contact and four under investigation), and a man between 45 and 64 years old whose case is attributed to community transmission. 

There are 12 new cases in New Tecumseth today, including a boy under 18, one woman and two men between 18 and 34 years old, one man between 35 and 44 years old, one woman and two men between 45 and 64 years old, and two men and two women between 65 and 79 years old. The case transmissions include two close contact cases, two linked to a workplace outbreak, two community-acquired, and six are under investigation. 

The remaining cases include three Oro-Medonte residents, two Adjala-Tosorontio residents, three Essa residents, a Midland man, a Tiny Township woman, and two Tay residents. 

The Midland man is between 65 and 79 years old.

The Oro-Medonte cases include a man and a woman between 18 and 24 years old (close contact) and a man between 45 and 64 years old.

The Tay woman is between 45 and 64 years old and her case is linked to an institutional outbreak.

The Tiny residents include a man and a woman between 45 and-64 years old. The woman's case is linked to community transmission. 

The three Essa cases include a man between 18 and 34 and a man between 35 and 44 years old whose cases are linked to workplace outbreaks, and a man between 35 and 44 whose case is linked to close contact. 

The two Adjala-Tosorontio cases include a woman between 45 and 64 years old whose case is linked to a workplace outbreak and a woman between 18 and 34 years old whose case is linked to close contact. 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,287 cases of COVID-19, with 1,1210 of those in Simcoe County. There are 1,057 cases listed as recovered. Four people are currently hospitalized. The health unit has recorded 49 deaths. 

The incidence rate for Simcoe County is 229 cases per 100,000 people.
