Trillium Manor resident dies of COVID-19

One resident of Trillium Manor has died due to COVID-19.

In an update provided on Dec. 29, Simcoe County officials confirmed one resident of the Orillia long-term care home who had been receiving care in hospital died on Dec. 24.

Since their last update, one more staff member and one more resident has tested positive for COVID-19 at the home, bringing the total number of cases to 17.

Ten staff and seven residents have now tested positive for the virus.

At this time, all positive cases to date continue to be isolated.

According to the County of Simcoe, which operates the home, cases have been traced back to the Oro-Medonte unit. The unit is currently in isolation, while other units at the home are in quarantine as a precaution.

Trillium Manor is home to 114 residents total, and employs 180 staff members.
