Have you considered shifting your operations to provide resources to support COVID-19 efforts?

Many of Ontario’s innovative and competitive manufacturing companies have answered the call to action and pivoted their production and services to support our health-care workers and our community. They have illustrated that during this uncertain time, new ways of working have become a necessity for us all.

Celebrate local organizations that have made pivoting a priority and learn if this is the right move for your company with Pivot Point, a virtual event being held on Thursday, May 14 from 1 to 2 p.m. Join in a candid community conversation and hear from manufacturers, funding agencies and patent experts who can share real stories and their unique experiences.

Pivot Point is presented by Georgian College’s Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre in partnership with the City of Barrie, County of Simcoe, City of Orillia, The Sandbox Centre and Lakehead University.

The hour-long event is light and informative with five engaging speakers who will be sharing their experience and how they shifted their operations. They will also participate in a short Q&A following their presentation.

This event will be of interest to manufacturers, business owners, academics and anyone who wants to celebrate and connect with inspirational leaders.

“So many local manufacturers have demonstrated significant leadership during this pandemic to address critical gaps in protective and medical equipment,” said Mira Ray, Director, Research and Innovation at Georgian. “By showcasing these innovative leaders, we believe their stories can inspire other companies to think creatively about how they can contribute to the fight against COVID-19, but also give some really tactical advice on how to bring their ideas to fruition.”

The five featured speakers are:

  • David Yeaman, President and Co-owner of Molded Precision Components (MPC)
  • Olha Senyshyn, Assistant Director, IP Osgoode
  • Braden Root-McCaig, Director of Communications and Strategy, Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE)
  • Matt Shearer, Beattie’s Distillers
  • Stephen Loftus, President and Founding Partners, Innovative Automation

Sybil Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer at MediPharm Labs, will act as moderator for the event.

Interested participants can register for Pivot Point at pivotpoint2020.eventbrite.ca.
