Hope. That is what living-wage jobs provide. Hope for the present. Hope for the future. Hope for success.
But what do our political and business leaders promote? Part-time, low-wage jobs without benefits. Why? Because they have the power to do so and they knowingly abuse it. Profit over people. Greed over responsibility and compassion.
We are all human beings first and foremost. Power is meant to be used to benefit the masses, not the privileged few. Our leaders know this. They do not acknowledge it and that is the real tragedy.
