Why are we chasing Orillia citizens away from the downtown core, where there are lots of great merchants, so we get extra coin in the city coffers by increasing the parking rates?

Why would I go downtown to shop when I can go to the Canadian Tire store, No Frills for groceries, Mark’s for clothes and not pay one penny to park?

Why this city keeps shooting itself in the foot is beyond me. The politicians are also chasing away tourist dollars by charging excessive rates to launch boats and park, for out-of-town tourists.

The dollars they would spend at close-to-lake merchants will be lost, it seems, forever. Why would I come back next year and pay the stupid launch and parking rates?

We want to encourage people to come to our city, not discourage them.
