The construction at the waterfront is understandable, but the limited access to waterfront amenities does not make sense, a local reader says.

I have been watching the development of our waterfront in Orillia with a growing dismay and embarrassment.

I fully understand the magnitude of the project, but not the manner in which it is ignoring the accessibility to our waterfront as summer is now upon us. I am amazed that local merchants haven’t banded together to create/demand better access and signage.

The city has cancelled most events, restricted parking and access to the downtown from the water and marina.

Surely, even just on weekends, a more welcoming pathway by the Legion could be created at little cost.

Shame on city planners.
