Most of us are well aware of the increased hardship facing hundreds of homeless people in our region and beyond.

It is a tragedy that this exists in our country. Yet it seems that we may be losing our collective mind about this crisis.

A Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) representative is managing the decommission of the COVID pandemic field hospital that was erected in an RVH parking lot. The insulated, four-season structure is a Taj Mahal version of the typical summer tents acting as home for many. I find it is disturbing that the tents will be stored at CFB Borden until there is a need for them. What? What about the need now for housing?

Let’s think big. Maybe it makes sense to put in a request from Orillia to borrow, or even rent, the tents.

Something to think about, folks.
