I was speechless reading the letter from the Rev. Ralph Wood essentially asking Justin Trudeau to lead the nation in prayer, following the example of Kenya’s leader.

For me, our Prime Minister is leading in the best possible way – he is trying to keep as many Canadians alive as possible, juggling who knows how many hundreds of balls in the air and still taking the time to speak the children of the country thanking them for their sacrifices.

Negotiating the closure of the US/Canadian border was an act of high wire diplomacy which under his direction was negotiated with the volatile President to the south.

His ministers, at his behest, are attempting to repatriate thousands of Canadians stranded abroad and he is attempting to alleviate the catastrophic economic effects on people who live paycheck to paycheck and will not be able to feed their families unless action is taken.

In it all he has displayed a calm and measured response to a horrific situation. And you want him to do more. Opening up this old chestnut between church and state – you really think this is the time?

I think we are all safer here in Canada thanks to the steps our government are taking than the poor folk in Kenya, notwithstanding they have their leader’s prayers.
