Orillia Mayor Don McIsaac deserves credit for 'shining the light' on the cost of Orillia Transit, says letter writer.

I read with great interest earlier today two opposing views on the hot-button item that seemingly has this city ablaze: Orillia transit. (ref: Letters to the Editor).

Having recently relocated here, I profess I am not fully versed on the challenges which confront Orillia. On the other hand, I now have plenty of motivation to sit up and pay attention. I share Mr. Kreisz's urging for people to take an active role in municipal affairs.

Regardless of where your sympathies lie, I unreservedly applaud the mayor for shining a light on this issue. Whether or not he is winning the hearts, he is certainly appealing to the minds. Kudos, Mayor McIssac.

Sharing a similar background in financial management, I realize full well, you can't have it all. There is an economic reality and a social need. Both need to be addressed.

But if push comes to shove, empty buses hold little appeal when put up against empty coffers.
