LETTER: Orillia Song was better promotion than city video

'In a humorous way, it did a far better job of depicting Orillia,' letter writer says of popular video posted to YouTube 17 years ago

An Orillia tourism video, combining the city's outdoor settings with urban flavour and fashion, has been met with mixed reviews on social media.

OrilliaMatters welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected] or via the website. Please include your full name, daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following letter is in response to an article about a City of Orillia tourism video, published Jan. 18.

Watching the Orillia promotional video had me wondering what it was about Orillia that would ever interest me in coming.

There wasn’t one thing except the lake and Leacock boathouse that would even indicate that Orillia existed.

How about bringing back the Orillia Song that was made and featured on YouTube a number of years ago? In a humorous way, it did a far better job of depicting Orillia than what I saw on OrilliaMatters a few days ago.

Judge for yourself: Watch the Orillia Song here. At least we see a bit of what Orillia looks like.
