LETTER: Snowmobile business owner didn't do homework

'The entitlement is appalling — the business owners clearly haven’t even looked into the cost of liability insurance, much less appropriate permitting.' says reader

Regarding the recent article of the snowmobile touring company being forced to close, I would like to offer a different perspective.

Perhaps the plight of the business owner facing against the county is an appealing read, but as I read your article I couldn’t help but think to myself again and again that this business clearly doesn’t deserve to operate.

The entitlement is appalling — the business owners clearly haven’t even looked into the cost of liability insurance, much less appropriate permitting.

I think while it’s tempting to paint the picture of the business fighting against the monolithic county corporation, what’s immediately apparent is that these owners have a complete disregard for the systems put in place to appropriately manage resources through permits, insurance, and other “bureaucracy.”

The attempt to turn the tides with public favour is not lost on me, and I hope it isn’t lost on other readers.

These are the forces of the market speaking - a resounding yell - to the business owner to shape up, or ship out.
