I have read the concerns of the residents near the new Atherley Road development, and they are all justifiable.

What really surprises me is the lack of public concern over the proposed retail/residential tower to be built on the waterfront between Mississaga Street and Coldwater Street.

I give the city credit in controlling the height of Matchedash Lofts during its construction but I no longer hear their concerns over this project.

We have one of the nicest waterfronts of any city in Ontario. It is a major tourist draw. Why not put a couple of restaurants there to cater to these tourists? Put the high rises someplace else in the city and avoid major traffic jams and parking problems. Allow the waterfront to remain esthetically beautiful.

Orillia taxpayers paid for a fantastic downtown and waterfront revitalization plan years ago. Why is it sitting on a shelf, collecting dust?
