LETTER: Why not roll out smaller vans instead of buses?

'Surely, they could be operated at a more reduced cost,' letter writer says of smaller buses with a capacity of 10-12 people

Orillia Transit seems to find costs escalating and is wondering how to combat the rising costs.

I have noticed many times that those big buses are almost always travelling with only three or four people in them. There may be times when there are more, but I have never seen it.

How about trading most of them in for small vans that hold 10 or 12 people? Surely, they could be operated at a more reduced cost and probably considerably less fuel.

Keep a couple of the larger buses for high-volume times.

Seems like a good idea to me, but maybe I don’t have all the facts.
