OrilliaMatters received this open letter to the community from the Orillia Family Health Organization, who is letting residents know the facility is open and seeing patients who need to be seen:

An Open Letter to the Community,

As we all continue to work together to slow the spread of COVID-19 we want to ensure that residents of Orillia and surrounding townships are aware that their family doctors’ and nurse practitioners’ offices are open and physicians and NPs are seeing patients virtually and in person.

While every effort is being made to keep our patients safe which includes physical distancing which limits in-person appointments to those that are most necessary, requiring face masks be worn by all patients entering offices/clinics and clinicians using PPE when examining patients, we continue to be available to all our patients as needed.

Both After Hours Clinics in Orillia are open to serve patients rostered to an Orillia family physician and have measures in place to stop the spread of this virus. For more information on both clinics please visit www.cfht.ca

Flu season is upon us and everyone is encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Family physician offices will be calling patients to arrange appointments for vaccinations.

Alternatively, local pharmacies will also be able to provide you with your flu shot this year. It doesn’t matter where you get it - just that you get your flu shot. It is okay if you get a flu shot in November or December if that is what happens, as that is when the supply of vaccine might be more available to Primary Care from the Public Health Unit.

If your child has been home from school due to symptoms common to COVID-19 requiring a note to return to school or your employer requires a note to return to work, you are encouraged to complete a self attestation form that is available at www.cfht.ca on the front page under COVID-19 resources.

As of Oct. 6, 2020 the Couchiching COVID Assessment Centre has moved to Rotary Place located at 100 University Ave. An appointment is required to be tested. To book an appointment please visit osmh.on.ca/covid-19. If you have more questions about COVID in Simcoe County, check out https://www.simcoemuskokahealth.org/Topics/COVID-19

Stay safe and stay healthy,
