A second large grass fire in Oro-Medonte has prompted the township to implement a fire ban.
On Friday evening, a fire erupted on Line 5 South in a wooded area behind the workshop of a home.
Multiple tankers, pumpers and an ATV were called in by Oro-Medonte Fire Services to extinguish the fire. It's not known what caused the blaze.
Earlier this week, on Monday, winds turned a "controlled burn" into an out-of-control wildfire near the corner of Line 10 South and Ridge Road.
The blaze became a 10-acre fire that consumed fields in the area.
As a result of the two fires, officials implemented the fire ban Friday evening.
"Due to extremely dry conditions and warm temperatures, Oro-Medonte Fire & Emergency Services has implemented a fire ban township-wide effective immediately until further notice," township officials announced.
"All open air burn permits are suspended and any type of burning is prohibited at this time."
